Conveyor Idlers

Having amongst the most extensive product ranges of any idler manufacturing company in the world Melco manufactures and supplies almost 1 million Troughing, Return, Impact, Rubber Disc, HDPE, Rubber Lagged, Garlands, and Training idlers per year. Belt widths range from 16" to 120", roller diameters from 3½" to 8½", and shaft and bearing sizes from 1" - 6205 to 2½" - 6312.

 

Conveyor Pulleys

Manufactured from selected South African Steels with fully machined weld preparation to BS 5135. Drive pulleys are offered with lagging, shaft configurations to meet customer requirements and friction based releasable locking devices. Pulley types include standard, custom and engineered class pulleys.

Conveyor Structure

Melco supplies a wide variety of various types of modular conveyor structure, for overland, plant and underground conveyors, roof slung or floor mounted.

QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

As an ISO 9001 listed Company, Melco operates a Quality Management System, which controls every aspect of the Company. With accreditation through internationally recognized SGS, systems are audited regularly to ensure compliance with the highest standards. All Manufacturing Operations are controlled using Standard Operating Procedures, Works Instructions and Process Audit Sheets.

Non-Manufacturing activities are controlled with Works Instructions and ISO 9001 dictated Procedures and Systems. Any departure from a system or procedure is handled through the process of Non Conformance Reports, in which each problem is reported, the root cause identified, the cost estimated, and the corrective action to eliminate reoccurrence determined and implemented. A Quality Improvement Team, which includes all levels of Management, is convened on a monthly basis, to review the Price of Non Conformance, which is aimed at 0.2% of turnover.

TESTING, RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

Melco operates a high tech, facility for the testing of its own, and competitor’s products, which ensures that Melco products are amongst the most advanced in the world. Extensive Research and Development has allowed many of the innovations originating in this facility to become industry standards. All products are tested under laboratory-controlled environments prior to field-testing, and finally full-scale manufacture and supply.

Melco, established as one of the world’s major suppliers, has to date supplied product for installation in over 50 countries around the world, conveying materials from the four corners of the earth. In North & South America, Africa, the Middle East, Europe and the Pacific Rim, many millions of Melco idlers on hundreds of miles of conveyor structure enable users to operate efficiently, and maximize availability of their conveyors.
